Radio Five Live and The Reading Agency have announced a partnership
between libraries and BBC Radio Five Live's Book of the Month on the
Simon Mayo programme .As part of this partnership Askews are offering a
'blind' standing order for the book of the month. The details of each
book will be strictly embargoed until before the programme but you can
preorder the titles by e-mailing your requirements to hannahf@askews.co.uk The
Simon Mayo Show's Book Programme has an audience of 2 million listeners
as well as a huge on-line listenership so we anticipate a great deal of
interest in the Book of the Month from library borrowers. BBC Radio
Five Live's Book Panel on the Simon Mayo Programme is a unique format on
national radio. Two books are reviewed and explored with their authors
and critics in a lively round table discussion. It features the latest
popular and literary fiction and is broadcast live every Thursday
afternoon as well as being made available as a podcast. Each month it
will highlight a novel by an unknown or lesser known author writing. The
books will be hardbacks, by new writers (the authors may have written
non fiction before or have written for other publications) and be
published in the last 6 months. They will also be topical and relevant
to the BBC Radio Five Live audience, have an engaging story and
characters and have intriguing and compelling themes.
